This Celestron C5+ Telescope is a rare vintage item that comes with a built-in bubble level. The telescope has a 5" (125mm) f/10 aperture and a maximum useful magnification of 500x.
The visual back is attached to the telescope. The finder bracket is also attached to the telescope.
The telescope comes with the hard case with custom fitted foam inside, shaped for this specific telescope, the Celest C5/C5+ case # 302077. I paid $144.50 for the case. It is included in this listing. Celestron is imprinted on it along with a locking mechanism on one of the closing clips. The key to it, is taped to the telescope inside the case.
Also included inside the case, in their original boxes, are the 5x24 finder along with the 25mm Kellner multi-coated 1.25" eyepiece and the Prism star diagonal 1-1/4". These three pieces are tucked under the telescope towards the back. Sometimes the lid catches on the base of the telescope when opening and closing it if you didn't get it in exactly right. Just put your hand inside to push the base back a little so it can get by it. It's on the front left side of the case that it can catch on. If it's put in just right, that won't happen. So please take note how it is tucked in the case. Take a pic to remind you how it fits in. The pic I included of it in the case, is not positioned exactly right. It's very close though. When you receive the telescope and open the case, you will see the round dial side is angled down further, tucked in deeper, than my pic shows. Maybe the manual has a pic of it. If you tuck it down, the lid won't catch on the bottom corner of the base.
Also the hand controller is in one of the top 'pocket' holes of the case. These are all original parts that came with the telescope, made in Japan. This is all that is included with this listing. The other items listed further down will be made available first to you to buy. I am holding off on listing them till you have the choice of what you want to buy.
The telescope tube is 11" long, and weighs 16.6 lbs. The manual says you can take the case in air travel, putting it in the overhead storage. I don't know if overhead storage is the same size as it was 30 yrs. ago.
It is motorized (yes, I tested to see that it still works), and has the telescope lens cap cover on it, that came with it.
I bought the Celestron C5+ telescope #11030 new in July 1993 for $1099. Only one owner, lightly used like 20 times. It has all the original parts that came with it with one exception. I will have to list the wedge mount separately because I don't have a box large enough to mail them together. You definitely need the wedge. It is in great condition. I will list it for $99 (and the actual shipping cost which depends on where you live) when you are ready to buy it so that no one buys it before you. I will do the same thing with the Celestron C5+/C8+ tripod 93591. It will cost $99 plus whatever shipping comes to. I paid $259.50 for it. It is still in great condition. I can email you a copy of the receipt if you would like to see it. I will post photos of course with all these additional items that will be made available for sale when you have purchased the telescope. I want you to have first pick.
The telescope lens has Starbright coatings standard -- AR coating on the corrector yield which gives greater light transmission while the HR coatings on the primary and secondary mirrors provide greater reflectivity.
Spur gear drive utilizes pre-loaded tapered bearings for a sturdy and accurate drive system.
DEC axis uses pre-loaded roller and thrust ball bearing.
Dual reading R.A. setting circle works in both the northern and southern hemisphere.

The Celestron C5 Instruction Manual #94173, Nov 1992, 68 pages, is also included. It is very handy to have. It is well written. It will be tucked in the side of the box inside a plastic slip cover.
I called Celestron (1-800-421-9649) and selected tech support and asked if there is a solar filter. They said the one they have won't work with a telescope that is older than 2007. But he said that there is one called Baader AstroSolar Filter for Telescopes - 120mm Filter Aperture # ASTF-120. Manufacturer's item # 2459312. Agena Astro's item number is OFIL-BP-ASTF-120.Please read ad closely as this type of filter cannot be returned. Rod at Celestron gave me a link for it: [link removed by eBay] Looks like you would have to use 20mm bolts with it to fit the filter over the outside. I don't know if they would come with the 20mm bolts. You can message the sellers and ask them. It costs $97 with free shp over $25.
Before you handle the telescope, I recommend you review the manual. When you are ready to remove the telescope from the case, support the tabletop bottom as well as using the side handle. Don't try to carry it just by the handle. Once you set it down, and are ready to pull the telescope tube out from its tucked in position, you may need to loosen the knobs that will enable you to do that. It can be tricky to get it out of its "folded" down tucked in position. Just take your time while you try to get acquainted with it and how it moves. The tube has to slide back up a little to be able to rotate it out of its tucked down position. I'm sure the included manual will cover this much better than me.
The bolts they used have a black plastic end cap that can pop off. It happened once to me. Fortunately, it popped back on. Seems like they should have a metal end cap so that won't happen. Just support the tabletop bottom when carrying it.
There is a small scratch on the handle that I painted with a thin black layer of acrylic paint - see close-up pic.
One rubber cap is missing from one of the front legs of the telescope tabletop. I didn't miss it until I saw it was not there in the photo. You could just wrap black electrical around it if desired. Or I could do it, or I can mail some black electrical tape to you that I have on hand. Please message me thru ebay if you want me to do one of those two options.
I put a new 9 volt battery in it. When you have to change the 9 volt battery, it has to go in, in a very specific way, to create a gap between the battery and the nearest side to you where the tab goes in, so it can fit in. So pay attention how the battery is turned and positioned in there, (see pic) or it will not close. I had to modify the battery compartment lid to fit on better.
You should review the manual first and note the warnings like: DO NOT FORCE THE R.A. KNOB TO TURN WHEN THE R.A. CLAMP IS FULLY TIGHTENED. THIS MAY STRIP THE R.A. PINION. IN ADDITION, DO NOT FORCE THE FORK MOUNT TO SWIVEL WHEN THE R.A. CLAMP IS FULLY ENGAGED. THIS MAY DAMAGE THE TELESCOPE.

The Celestron hard case with foam will be double boxed with handle holes on the outside box and insured. It weighs about 39 lbs. total. It measures 33" x 18" x 18". The inside box measures 25.5" x 14" x 17". The larger second box will be filled with large bubble wrap and possibly some foam peanuts.
